Pylorus Ligated Rat
Evaluate potential gastric antisecretory activity in the pylorus ligated rat for potential use in peptic ulcer and gastroesophageal reflux. Rats are dosed by appropriate route and the pylorus is ligated under ether anesthesia. Rats sacrificed 3 hours later, volume of gastric juice retained in stomach is then measured and aliquot titrated to determine hydrogen ion concentration.
