Charcoal Meal Test - Rat
Evaluate the efficacy of a test compound to either inhibit small intestinal propulsive motility or which may prevent inhibition of gastrointestinal propulsive motility due to anesthesia and surgery. These tests are based on the intestinal transport of a charcoal meal along the small intestine. Protocols are custom designed. The effect of drugs on propulsion of charcoal meal are a good indicator of clinical activity.
